Travelling to INNSBRUCK and GetTING Around

As the capital of Tirol, Innsbruck has excellent transport connections by plane, train and car. The city is easy to reach both on public transport and by car.

In the city, you can get around conveniently and safely on foot, or by bike, bus or tram. You can also easily reach the surrounding valleys and regions by suburban train or using the public bus network.

Innsbruck Airport

Innsbruck Airport, situated at the heart of the Alps, is easily accessed thanks to its central location. The airport is located on the outskirts of the provincial capital of Innsbruck and is very well connected to the city`s public transport network and the motorway.

Innsbruck International Airport is around four kilometres and approximately 10 – 15 minutes by car from the city centre. It has excellent national and international flight connections. There are direct flights to and from Berlin, Brussels, Frankfurt, London, Rotterdam, Stockholm and Vienna several times a day. In addition to scheduled flights, seasonal charter flights also operate from here. There are six car hire companies at Innsbruck Airport that offer a wide selection of rental cars. Thanks to its central location, you can also reach the city centre quickly and easily by taxi or public transport (bus line F).

There are several options to get to and from the Airport:

1. Train/Bus

Innsbruck Airport is easily accessed by train or bus. Bus route F connects Innsbruck main station with the airport main building. The journey takes about 20 minutes.

2. Taxi/Transfer

A taxi stand is located directly in front of the terminal building. This means you can climb straight into a taxi on leaving the building or be dropped right at the door after a convenient journey to the airport.

In order to provide a rough idea of prices, we have created a list of approximate rates that is available for download. Please note that prices also depend on the size of the taxi and how many items of baggage are being transported.

Airport transfers can also be booked in advance. To see the list of transfer providers click here.

3. Renting a car

Six renowned car rental firms have offices at Innsbruck Airport, and there is a wide range of vehicles on offer.
